Nine è un client per la gestione di email e calendario presente sul Play Store da diversi anni. Nonostante ciò, è possibile che molti di voi non l'abbiano mai sentita nominare, da un lato perché Gmail è in grado di soddisfare le esigenze basilari di una gran parte dell'utenza, dall'altro perché – anche cercando un'alternativa consumer a Gmail – vi sarete indirizzati ad altre soluzioni. Nine infatti è indirizzata ad un'utenza business, sia per le funzionalità più avanzate che offre, sia per il costo stesso dell'app (14,99€, dopo il periodo di prova gratuita di due settimane).

Se però ne siete assidui utilizzatori, vi farà piacere sapere che è stato rilasciato un nuovo aggiornamento – che porta la versione di Nine alla numero 4 – che introduce tante novità, su tutte una che promette di colmare forse la principale lacuna dell'app, ovvero la piena compatibilità con gli account Gmail.

In Nine v4.0 è infatti stato introdotto il supporto a IMAP, che consente di sincronizzare anche gli account tradizionali di Gmail (e di altri servizi email), oltre a quelli offerti nella G Suite.

Un'altra grande novità riguarda la possibilità di condividere i vostri calendari, un accorgimento molto atteso proprio dagli utenti aziendali. Per tutte le altre novità – compreso il supporto a Samsung DeX – vi rimandiamo al changelog completo che trovate qui sotto.

Gmail

  • Sync signature from Gmail server - Multiple accounts ('Send mail as' account)
    • Nine - Settings > Account > Signature > Manage signatures > Gmail signature - Refresh
    • The edited signature in Nine is uploaded to Gmail automatically. (In case of Alias accounts, it is not working due to REST API error)
  • Sync Google Profile Image
    • Nine - Settings > Account > Server setting > Verify account

    • It is able to search with the same syntax used on Gmail (eg: in:unread has:attachment)

  • In order to sync the shared calendar folder in Nine, you should accept the share notification email from the sharer in OWA (Outlook Web Access)
  • The sharer must share the primary calendar folder and it is able to be synced to Nine. If only sub calendar is shared by sharer, it is unable to be synced to Nine
