Steve Kondik accusa apertamente Kirt McMaster per il fallimento di Cyanogen Inc. e chiede scusa a tutti

Che le sparate di Kirt McMaster fossero esagerate l'avevano capito tutti da un pezzo, senz'altro anche Steve Kondik, che con questo insolito CEO ha dovuto lavorare per anni, a quanto pare a malincuore. Ironia della sorte però, è stato lui stesso a portarlo nell'azienda e a dargli quel ruolo, ed il suo scaricabarile di adesso assomiglia più ad uno sfogo che non ad una vera ammissione di colpa, dalla quale non è esente lui stesso.

My co-founder [McMaster] apparently became unhappy with running the business and not owning the vision. This is when the "bullet to the head" and other misguided media nonsense started, and the bad business deals were signed. Being second in command, all I could do was try and stop it, do damage control, and hope every day that something new didn't happen. The worst of it happened internally and it became a generally shitty place to work because of all the conflict.

I think the backlash from those initial missteps convinced him that what we had needed to be destroyed.

Forti tensioni interne insomma, che hanno reso "tossico" l'ambiente di lavoro, portando ai pesanti ridimensionamenti attuali. E nel futuro che succederà? Kondik augura buona fortuna (a denti stretti) a quello che è rimasto dell'azienda, che ha ancora "un sacco di soldi in banca" che potranno aiutarla a crescere, ma la sua avventura in pratica finisce qui.

With plenty of cash in the bank, the new guys tore the place down and will go and do whatever they are going to do. It's probably for the best and I wish them luck, but what I was trying to do, is over. Boo hoo, right? I fucked up and got fucked over. It's the Silicon Valley way isn't it? First world problems in the extreme? It hurts, a lot. I lost a lot of friends, and I'm truely [sic] sorry to everyone I let down.

I wish I had made different choices and trusted different people (especially one in particularly early on), but all I care about now is figuring out what to do next.

Vista dall'esterno, alcuni errori sono stati così palesi da far sembrare l'intera avventura quasi un tentativo dilettantesco, piuttosto che quello di professionisti che avevano guadagnato credito anche presso alcuni colossi del settore. Ma del resto il mondo degli affari è così, e lo ammette lo stesso Kondik, che ora dovrà dedicarsi alla sua prossima avventura. Qualunque essa sia.
