Cat ha presentato un altro "telefono dei suoi", ovvero molto resistente, com'è lecito aspettarsi dal celebre marchio. A dirla tutta però questa volta c'è anche qualcosa in più: la presenza di una fotocamera termica inclusa nello smartphone, che gli consente quindi di vedere anche al buio e di rilevare i punti di calore.

Si tratta della Flir thermal Camera che abbiamo recensito qualche tempo fa, ed in effetti il suo impiego in un telefono da lavoro, come questo Cat S60, ha pienamente senso, dato che può essere utilizzata per individuare perdite e parti elettriche difettose.

Caratteristiche quindi di livello piuttosto elevato per uno smartphone da lavoro, cui si aggiungono una scocca rinforzata per renderla ancor più resistente, tanto da essere a prova di catura fino da 1,8 metri (MIL Spec 810G).

Tra i tanti software presintallati c'è anche un'app dedicata di Flir, che permette di catturare scatti singoli, panorama e video, con palette dei colori per la temperatura intercambiabili, rilevamento in un punto preciso, e valori massimo, minimo e medio per la temperatura rilevata.

Uscita e prezzo Cat S60

Cat S60 sarà disponibile nel corso del 2016 per 649€, una cifra piuttosto elevata, ma in linea con quanto ci aspettavamo, viste le sue particolarità. Cat^® phones today announced the launch of its new flagship product, the Cat S60; the world's first smartphone with an integrated thermal camera, and the world's most waterproof smartphone. The device will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2016, in Barcelona.

The Cat S60 includes an embedded thermal camera from FLIR, the global leader in thermal imaging technology, allowing Cat phone users to be the first in the world to use their smartphones for a multitude of use cases, including: detecting heat loss around windows and doors; spotting moisture and missing insulation; identifying over-heating electrical appliances and circuitry; and seeing in complete darkness.

The thermal camera visualizes heat that is invisible to the naked eye, highlighting temperature contrasts. It can pick up heat and measure surface temperatures from a distance of up to 50 to 100 feet, and see through obscurants such as smoke, enabling a huge range of use cases for building professionals, utility workers, outdoor sports enthusiasts, and emergency first responders to name but a few.

The Cat S60 is also waterproof to depths of up to 5 meters for one hour, allowing it to be used as an underwater camera, pushing the boundaries of mobile technology, and how and where it's used.

The Cat S60 is also an extremely tough and robust, world class rugged smartphone. Its versatile, super-bright display can be viewed in bright sunlight, and the touchscreen can be controlled with wet fingers or while wearing gloves.
