Cyanogen Inc. ed Alcatel abbandonano Hero 2+

Vi ricordate di Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2+? Si tratta di uno smartphone annunciato in corrispondenza del MWC dello scorso marzo, tra i pochi al mondo a montare la Cyanogen OS.

Ebbene, a quanto pare non se ne farà nulla. Alcatel e Cyanogen Inc. hanno confermato che lo smartphone non sarà lanciato, pur lasciando aperte le porte a future partnership.

La barra a quanto pare era stata puntata troppo in alto, tanto che lo Hero 2+ "non ha un chiaro percorso di aggiornamento ad Android 5.1", qualunque cosa questo significhi. In ogni caso, questo non sarà il primo Alcatel con Cyanogen OS.

La cosa non ci tocca da vicino, dato che lo smartphone non sarebbe stato venduto in Italia, ma è comunque una curiosa marcia indietro, e ci piacerebbe saperne di più su come siano davvero andate le cose, anche se dubitiamo di venirne a conoscenza.

ALCATEL ONETOUCH and Cyanogen, Inc. have made a mutual decision to forgo the release of the HERO 2+. At its announcement, the goal of bringing this device to market was to offer the most advanced hardware and software at an affordable price. The bar was set high and unfortunately the device does not have a clear Android 5.1 upgrade path. We therefore are committing to refocus our joint efforts on a next-generation product that can exceed the expectations of end users. Our teams remain dedicated to releasing an ALCATEL ONETOUCH device powered by Cyanogen OS, and are looking to share an update when we have more details to share.
