Andy Rubin si unisce a Redpoint (e viceversa)

Dopo l'abbandono di Google avvenuto lo scorso autunno, Andy Rubin, il creatore di Android, si è dedicato al suo stesso "incubatore" per giovani startup, Playground. Quest'ultimo ha recentemente raccolto ben 48 milioni di fondi da vari investitori, tra cui Google stesso, HP e Redpoint, ma è con questo che i rapporti si sono fatti più stretti:

Andy had some big ideas about the evolution of hardware and software, but he wasn’t sure whether he would pursue them through his own hardware-focused incubator, Playground, or as a partner at Redpoint. Ultimately, we decided he should do both, and so we partnered a fourth time. Andy has become a Venture Partner at Redpoint, and Redpoint is the first investor in Playground.

Andy continuerà insomma ad operare con la sua Playground, ma sarà anche un importante partner di Redpoint, con lo scopo di permettere alle giovani menti di creare qualcosa di nuovo senza doversi preoccupare degli aspetti economici e manageriali necessari a sviluppare il proprio business.

Cosa ne verrà fuori è difficile dirlo adesso, ma possiamo prendere quanto successo con Android come un segno di buon auspicio per Mr. Rubin ed i suoi colleghi.
