Libon: un po' Viber, un po' WhatsApp, sbarca su Android

Il mondo della messaggistica su smartphone è sempre più affollato e un nuovo contendente, almeno per il panorama Android, si è appena gettato nella mischia: Libon. Chiamate gratuite, messaggi e segreteria telefonica per tutti i dispositivi con Froyo e superiori, questa è in breve l'offerta di Libon, che ci accoglie con una piacevole e moderna interfaccia, subito dopo la canonica registrazione di un account che passa sia tramite mail che numero di telefono.

L'app vuole in pratica sostituirsi sia al nostro registro chiamate che al gestore degli SMS, che verranno visualizzati in un'unica interfaccia: cliccando sulle due opzioni in basso, Call e Message, potremo scegliere se avviare una chiamata o un messaggio tramite l'app (gratis) o con i servizi canonici (eventualmente a pagamento); ovviamente per sfruttare l'app è necessario che anche il nostro interlocutore faccia parte del network di Libon, e questo è il classico punto debole di tutte le nuove applicazioni simili, ovvero la base di utenza.

 Inoltre, soprattutto all'inizio, è facile confondersi e utilizzare l'app per messaggiare anche chi non fa parte di Libon (in pratica pagando un canonico SMS), dato che non c'è grande distinzione tra messaggi canonici e non; nella nostra breve prova, tra l'altro, l'app non è stata in grado di riconoscere sempre correttamente chi era autenticato al network e chi no, come potete vedere nelle immagini a fine articolo.

In ogni caso speriamo che si tratti di piccoli vizi da limare col tempo, e soprattutto auguriamo a Libon che i suoi utenti crescano rapidamente anche da noi. A seguire badge, screenshot e anacronistico (notare la data) comunicato stampa.

Paris, France 16 April 2013 – Orange today announced the launch of Libon, its all-in-one communications app, on Android. Available to download for free from Google Play, Libon will now offer Android users free calls, smart messaging and personalized visual voicemail on Android as well as iOS. Libon also announced version 2.2 of its iOS Libon app.

Following its successful launch on iOS in November 2012 Libon is now available on Android. The Android launch means users will now able to connect cross platform between iOS and Android, as well as with friends and family on any network in 100 countries.

"The launch of Libon on Android was an absolute must. It's overtaken iOS numbers in the smartphone OS wars and we're very excited to finally offer something to the thousands of users who have been asking about this," said Giles Corbett, Head of Libon.

At launch, Android users of Libon will be able to enjoy:

Libon users will enjoy completely free HD quality voice calls between Libon users, wherever they are, in the same country or on the other side of the world. Contacts just need to download Libon for free from the App Store or Google Play to begin enjoying free crystal clear calls between each other on 3G or Wi-Fi.

Major update for the iPhone Libon app

In addition to the launch of Libon for Android, Libon also announced a new version of Libon for iOS – version 2.2.

From now on, users can send pictures and audio messages to their Libon friends in a few seconds.
