Duracell: con Powermat la ricarica Wireless su tutti gli smartphone

Ricordate quando vi parlammo di MyGrid, il caricabatterie ad induzione utilizzabile su tutti i cellulari? Bene, oggi al MWC Duracell propone un modo ancora più innovativo di caricare i nostri smartphone senza l'ingombro di nessun cavetto.

Si chiama WiCC (Wireless Charging Card) ed è la sottilissima "scheda" che potete vedere nell'immagine qui in alto: grazie ad essa, tutti i cellulari sulla quale è montata avranno la possibilità di ricaricare la batteria semplicemente poggiando lo smartphone sull'apposita base.

Niente più cavi o complicati adattatori: se l'idea di Duracell andrà in porto, ogni singolo device in futuro potrà sfruttare la ricarica wireless in maniera davvero semplice ed immediata.
Il successo o meno del progetto ovviamente dipenderà più che altro dalle aziende produttrici, che dovranno dotare i loro prossimi prodotti dell'apposito slot nel quale inserire la WiCC: come potete vedere dalle immagini e dal video in fondo, comunque, questo non intaccherà in alcun modo le dimensioni dei dispositivi, in quanto la scheda è spessa solo 0,9 mm e sarà universale per tutti i modelli.

Il presidente di Powermat, Daniel Schreiber, ha introdotto l'idea sostenendo che WiCC farà della ricarica wireless ciò che le memory card hanno fatto per l'archiviazione: la renderà semplice ed istantaneamente accessibile e sicuramente c'è da dargli ragione, perché se il prototipo presentato all'MWC avrà il successo sperato, probabilmente queste schede potrebbero diventare nei prossimi tempi un vero e proprio standard per tutti.

Tuttavia, senza ombra di dubbio ci sarà ancora da attendere un po' per trovare la WiCC in commercio: non ci aspettiamo di vederla in giro per almeno un altro anno, anche perché se l'idea piacerà, ci vorrà del tempo prima che le compagnie adattino i loro modelli.

Duracell Powermat Introduces the Wireless Charging Card (WiCC™) for Smartphones; the Instant Upgrade to Wireless Charging Capability

Solution does for wireless power what memory cards did for storage: making wireless power simple and instantly accessible.

Barcelona, Spain -- Mobile World Congress – Duracell Powermat, a leading brand in wireless power, today unveiled "WiCC"; a breakthrough aftermarket solution for wireless power. WiCC is a wafer-thin card that consumers can insert into compatible phones or cases to instantly upgrade them for wireless power.

WiCC will work seamlessly with all handsets in compliance with IEEE's Power Matters Alliance (PMA) 'Wireless Charging Card' specifications. This standard means that for the first time handsets will be able to utilize real estate allocated for the NFC antenna to offer wireless charging - without impairing costs or design.

WiCC-enabled phones will interoperate seamlessly with the full range of Duracell Powermat wireless charging products as well as with wireless power offered by its growing ecosystem of partners such as leading airports, cars, educational institutions and furniture makers.
