LG presenta anche L5 e L7: la serie L è servita

Dopo che l'LG L3 era apparso in Svezia e poi silenziosamente anche qui da noi, in molti si sono chiesti il significato di quella "L" davanti al nome, tanto più ieri, quando LG aveva stuzzicato la curiosità degli internauti con un analogo logo pubblicato su facebook: il mistero è stato presto svelato e la nuova serie L si arricchisce e completa con due nuovi modelli, L5 ed L7. Parliamo dei telefoni, non delle bionde.

Se l'L3 è il piccolo della linea, con il suo schermo da 3,2 pollici a 320x240, L5 ed L7 vogliono essere presi decisamente più sul serio, sia nelle dimensioni (4 e 4,3 pollici, rispettivamente), che nel sistema operativo, ovvero Ice Cream Sandwich (contro Gingerbread, presente sull'L3). Ulteriori dettagli sono purtroppo ancora assenti.

Ciò che i tre modelli condividono è invece il  look che, per quanto differenziato dalle dimensioni, presenta degli evidenti punti in comune, che bene sono esaltati nell'immagine qui sotto e descritti nel comunicato stampa a fine articolo: "stile moderno e squadrato per offrire una presa sicura, floating mass technology che assottiglia il look avvicinando i bordi dello schermo a quelli del telefono, layout senza stacchi, eventuali contrasti nel design armonizzati utilizzando inserti metallici ed una forma sinuosa e sottile che attira l'attenzione".

Logico quindi aspettarsi fasce di prezzo ben distinte per i tre modelli, anche se nulla di ufficiale circola in merito: sappiamo che si parte dai 129€ dell'L3, ma è ovvio che gli altri due modelli avranno un costo (assai?) superiore. L5, in particolare, potrebbe essere un device di fascia media nella quale, dallo "storico" Optimus One in giù, LG ha dimostrato di saper ben competere.

In ultima battuta, notiamo che nell'immagine in alto il telefono al centro mostra un app drawer che sembra abbastanza in stile Ice Cream Sandiwch: che LG abbia scelto la stessa strada intrapresa da Motorola, ovvero di lasciare elementi importanti di Android 4 abbastanza inalterati, piuttosto che quella scelta da Samsung che con la sua TouchWiz sembra voler "coprire tutto"?

SEOUL, Feb.

21, 2012 – LG Electronics (LG) makes its boldest move yet in its strategy to attain smartphone leadership with the launch of its new design identity, L-Style, at the 2012 Mobile World Congress (MWC).

The core essence of L-Style involves a timeless design with finer details that further differentiate LG's mobile devices from the competition. LG's design leadership has been well established in the past with a successful track-record that includes the Black Label Series phones such as the Chocolate and Shine.

"Design is consistently the top or second most important factor for customers when choosing a mobile phone," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. "With smartphones, we sometimes took a more functional approach to design but with L-Style we're going back to our roots as a company focused on how our products fit into the lifestyle of our customers."

L-Style's design philosophy is comprised of five aesthetic elements: Modern Square Style for a comfortable grip, Floating Mass Technology for a slimmer look, Seamless Layout for a more intuitive arrangement of keys, Harmonized Design Contrast utilizing metallic accents and Sensuous Slim Shape that naturally draws one's attention.

Three new smartphones to be unveiled at MWC will initially feature the L-Style look. The Optimus L3, with a 3.2-inch display, will first launch in Europe this March. This smartphone will be followed by two other devices in the first half of the year running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich: Optimus L5 with a 4.0-inch display and Optimus L7 featuring a 4.3-inch screen.

Market availability and additional hardware specifications of all three models will be announced at a future date.
